EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Introduction

1.              This is the 4th monthly Environmental Monitoring and Audit (EM&A) Report prepared by Cinotech Consultants Limited for the project “Contract No. HY/2011/09 – Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Link Road – Section between HKSAR Boundary and Scenic Hill” (hereinafter called the “Contract”). This report documents the findings of EM&A Works conducted in May 2013.

Remark:    (1) N/A: No monitoring was conducted in the reporting month as no underwater sockets into rock can be carried out for marine bored piles in West Lantau in May and June in accordance with EP Condition 3.1.

1-hour TSP Monitoring

 

4.              All 1-hour TSP monitoring was conducted as scheduled in the reporting month.  No Action/Limit Level exceedance was recorded.

 

24-hour TSP Monitoring

 

5.              All 24-hour TSP monitoring was conducted as scheduled in the reporting month.  No Action/Limit Level exceedance was recorded.

 

Construction Noise

 

6.              All construction noise monitoring was conducted as scheduled in the reporting month. One Action Level exceedance was recorded as one documented complaint was received to complaint the noise nuisance due to loading of metal parts at barge near the seawall of Works Area WA6 early morning (around 8:45a.m) on 18 May 2013 (Saturday) in the reporting month. No Limit Level exceedance was recorded.

 

Water Quality

 

7.              All water quality monitoring was conducted as scheduled in the reporting month except the water quality monitoring for mid-ebb tide on 22 May 2013 was cancelled due to the adverse weather. No Action/Limit Level exceedance was recorded.

8.              Three environmental complaints were received in the reporting month.
