7              ENVIRONMENTAL site inspection

Site Audits

7.1         Site audits were carried out by ET on weekly basis to monitor the timely implementation of proper environmental management practices and mitigation measures in the Contract site.

7.2         As the Construction Phase EM&A Programme under HY/2011/09 have been terminated since 24th October 2018, no weekly site audit was carried out in the reporting month.

 

7.3         According to EP condition 4.7 and EM&A Manual, periodic monitoring (every three months) of construction works shall be conducted to ensure the avoidance of any impacts on Sha Lo Wan (West) Archaeological Site. Access to Sha Lo Wan (West) Archaeological site for works areas and storage of construction equipment is not allowed. The 20th inspection to the Sha Lo Wan (West) Archaeological Site was conducted on 18th September 2018.

Implementation Status of Environmental Mitigation Measures

 

7.4         According to the EIA Study Report, Environmental Permit and the EM&A Manual, the mitigation measures detailed in the documents are recommended to be implemented during the construction phase. An updated summary of the EMIS is provided in Appendix E.

7.5         Regular marine travel route for marine vessels were implemented properly in accordance with the submitted plan and relevant records were kept properly.

7.6         Acoustic decoupling measures for the stationary equipment (generators, winch generators and air compressors) mounted on boards were adopted according to EP Condition 3.7 and EM&A Manual, Section 10.2.18.

7.7         Dolphin exclusion zone and dolphin watching plan according to EM&A Manual, Section 10.2.12 and EP Condition 3.5 was implemented by DCVJV’s trained dolphin watcher.

7.8         Spill kits and booms are ready on site for the event of accidental spillage of oil or other hazardous chemicals from construction activities including vessels operating for the Contract.

Advice on the Solid and Liquid Waste Management Status

7.9         According to the Contractor, 243 m3 inert C&D materials was generated during the reporting month. 

7.10     The Contractor was advised to minimize the wastes generated through the recycling or reusing. All mitigation measures stipulated in approved waste management plan shall be fully implemented.

7.11     The amount of wastes generated by the activities of the Contract during the reporting month is shown in Appendix F.
